EU Policy Lab/ Deep Dive Dialogues
Note: The Co-creations and Deep Dive Dialogues will happen in parallel.
EU Policy Lab - Scenario Exploration Session
What: The 'Scenario Exploration System' (SES) is a serious game, future simulation tool developed by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre.
It is a unique, interactive platform that engages participants in future-oriented systemic thinking. Participants take action to reach their long-term objectives in contrasting scenario-related contexts while interacting with other stakeholders.
Why I should participate: By creating a realistic journey towards the future, the SES tool is an interactive and energising way to start a debate on the future of the EU's transition to a net-zero carbon economy, or deep dive into a specific technology, policy or other type of drivers and their impacts on our future, decarbonised economy.
With this tool, participants can simulate what it feels like to have their say in climate and energy policymaking. Users also navigate various scenarios and can experience the constraints and opportunities they might face in interacting with different actors and making decisions towards reaching long-term goals and objectives.
How: The SES engages 5 participants (or five teams) to build their own role and create unique stories while exploring possible futures. Two opposing scenarios will be explored in the session. In each scenario exploration, participants must take action across three time horizons (3 rounds) to reach their long-term objectives as a policy maker, a business, or a civil society organisation while the public voice observes and assesses future impacts according to its interests.
Deep Dive Dialogues
At the Deep Dive Dialogues, we will have 3 panels following each other.
1)Energy Transition: a one-off opportunity for the EU industry and its competitiveness. 9:30 - 10:30
The urgent necessity of acting as quickly as possible to avoid tipping points demands not just the switch of technologies but a reformation of our economy and our business models. It opens a great window of opportunity for the EU’s industry. By anchoring the energy transition as a clear European political project, we can kill two birds with one stone. Address the imperative duty of tackling climate crisis while reinvigorating the EU's leadership in building the society of the future. How can this be achieved? Which role will Brussels play in the path to a sustainable energy world? Will the EU still be able to compete with the rest of the world? What lies ahead for the future of this continent?
Many high-level panellists are invited and will be confirmed shortly.
2) Energy Mobility: How reinventing mobility will affect the energy transition? 10:35 - 12:05
The mobility transition has taken momentum with new players like TESLA showing that the electric mobility is compelling many traditional players are following suit. Beyond the fuel origin, mobility as a service with shared and autonomous vehicles open new possibilities. How will it impact the energy sector? How will our transport network look like? How would this impact our way of living?
Break 12:05 - 12:30
3) Energy in Africa: Fast development, leapfrogging solutions? 12:30 - 14:00
The population of Africa is projected to quadruple in the next 90 years. Having a need for development, the type of energy chosen will be crucial for its growth. What lies ahead for some of the fastest-growing economic regions on our planet? What technologies and business models are needed to empower its population? How does the varied geography play a role? Are we going to see the same phenomenon as seen with the advent of the internet?
14:00 - 15:00
15:00 - 15:15
15:15 - 16:30
Several companies and other organisations will be presenting themselves and interact with the attendees. If you are interested in representing your company and having a booth, get in touch through the partnership form.
16:30 - 18:30
CommUnity Speaker Series
9 Inspiring TED like speakers will share their ideas in parallel. Choose your inspiration!
18:30 - 20:00
CommUnity Dinner incl. CommUnity Awards
A great dinner and some entertainment will allow us to connect in the CommUnity way! As usual, just before the dinner starts, the CommUnity Award Winners will be announced and their outstanding essays and pictures presented.
The aim of the class is to activate the energies of the participant through simple yoga movements and laughing exercises for short period and then move on to quietening the mind through a long meditation. You don´t need any previous experience in yoga or meditation. Come with an open mind and experience thoughtlessness.
10:00 - 12:00
Brunch incl. Keynote
Brunch, being a portmanteau of the words breakfast and lunch, gives the best opportunity to network in an informal environment while recharging your batteries. We will stop the brunch to listen for 30 minutes to the inspiring story of Jan Michael Hess and how he build the community around the Ecosummit, the event accelerating smart green startups, investors and corporates.
BlueHalo makes your event climate neutral by helping to avoid emmisions, reduce them and offset the remaining footprint with high quality projects that fit your event values. BlueHalo is convinced, that for a transformation of the event industry towards carbon neutrality, automation is the answer.
